COLOSSUS PRODUCTIONS CELEBRATES FOUR BRITISH ACADEMY TELEVISION CRAFT AWARDS NOMINATIONS
Both David Attenborough’s Natural History Museum Alive 3D and Micro Monsters with David Attenborough shortlisted
London. 24 March 1014. Multi-award-winning producer Colossus Productions has received four nominations across three categories of BAFTA’s prestigious British Academy Television Craft Awards, which honour the very best behind-the-scenes talent from television.
This year’s ceremony will be held at The Brewery on Sunday 27 April, and will be hosted once again by Stephen Mangan. Both programmes shortlisted were created by Colossus Productions, the production joint venture between Sky and Atlantic Productions which creates tent pole, event programming in 4k, 3D and 2D.
Dan Smith, director of the critically acclaimed David Attenborough’s Natural History Museum Alive 3D has been recognised in the Breakthrough Talent category, while Freddie Claire, Graham Kirkman and John Rogerson have been nominated in the Sound for Factual Productions category for the same film.
Colossus Productions claims two of the four nominations for the Special, Visual and Graphic Effects category, a notable achievement in an area traditionally dominated by big budget drama productions. Colossus’ in-house VFX team ZOO, along with VFX production partner Fido, have been nominated in the category for David Attenborough’s Natural History Museum Alive 3D, with the second nomination going the production team for specialist macro filming for Micro Monsters with David Attenborough: Predator, a collaboration with Sky 3D.
